VCU signs Will Wade to extension through 2023-24
VCU has signed head coach Will Wade to a contract extension that locks up the 33-year-old through the 2023-24 season.
The school confirmed the agreement shortly after it was reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Wade's new deal comes about 24 hours after athletic director Ed McLaughlin told Tim Pearrell of the Richmond Times-Dispatch that he was hoping to finalize enhancements for the program "in the next day or so."
It's also around the time Wade's name was being whispered as a possible target for Vanderbilt, which is in need of a new head coach.
Take a breath, #RamNation. All is fine on W. Broad Street. #LetsGoVCU

Wade spent just one season with the Rams before earning his new pact. He came over from Chattanooga as the replacement for Shaka Smart, who left for the Texas job. Wade was an assistant on Smart's staff in 2011, when the Rams enjoyed a Cinderella run to the Final Four.
In his first year at the helm, Wade returned the Rams to the NCAA tournament for the sixth straight season, and led them to a first-round upset of Oregon State.
VCU wrapped up its first year of the Wade era with a 25-11 record.
