Pistons rookie rips Durant: 'No one is scared of playing against him'
Despite being a rookie, 19-year-old Stanley Johnson isn't shying away from calling out one of the league's biggest stars.
Johnson continued the war of words between the Detroit Pistons and Oklahoma City Thunder by hitting back at Kevin Durant's dismissive comments about Detroit.
"If he wanted to have an impact on the game, he should have just played,” Johnson told Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press after shootaround on Friday.
Durant, along with teammate Serge Ibaka, sat out Tuesday's 88-82 loss at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
"No one is scared of playing against him on this side of town,” Johnson said. “Next year we have two games scheduled, and I know, for me, it's circled on my schedule from now on."
Durant fired shots at Motown in a prolonged rant aimed at former teammate and current Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson.
"I wanted to play against Detroit, for sure, but you know, it's Detroit," Durant added of Jackson's new home. "Who cares about Detroit?"
The feud between Jackson and his former teammates in Oklahoma City stems back several years. Recently, the bitter clashes have mostly been between Jackson and Russell Westbrook, but it looks as if the dispute has grown to include other principles.
