Report: NFL delaying Gordon reinstatement pending 60-90 days of clean tests
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon's potential reinstatement from indefinite suspension will be delayed until the NFL is comfortable he has 60 to 90 days of clean drug tests, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Gordon, who became eligible to apply for reinstatement from suspension in January, reportedly failed a league-administered drug test in March.
His sample reportedly contained trace amounts of marijuana and was also diluted, which triggered the positive test result but apparently wasn't enough for the NFL to rule out reinstatement.
Should Gordon's tests over the next 60-90 days remain clean, he'll presumably be reinstated to play in 2016.
He missed the entire 2015 season serving an indefinite suspension after testing positive for alcohol while he was in the league's substance abuse program as a result of a prior DWI arrest.
Gordon's last NFL action came in 2014, when he appeared in five games after serving a 10-game suspension. The year before, he led the NFL in receiving.
