Ravens fan in critical condition after being attacked by 2 Raiders supporters
A 55-year-old Baltimore Ravens fan is in critical condition after being attacked by two Oakland Raiders fans at M&T Bank Stadium during Sunday's game.
Joseph Bauer suffered a serious head injury after being knocked to the ground, and doctors revealed to his sister, Susan, that he has a 30 percent chance to live following the confrontation.
Scott Smith and Andrew Nappi were charged with first- and second-degree assault, with the latter being released on $25,000 bail.
"My brother is in critical condition on life support over a football game," Susan Bauer said to Carrie Wells of The Baltimore Sun. "We're in shock over this."
The Ravens released the following statement:
"Our sympathies and prayers go out to Mr. Joseph Bauer, his wife Sharon, and the rest of his family. We have reached out to the family and have received a report on Mr. Bauer's condition.
"We are deeply concerned about this assault and are learning as much as we can about it. Safety for our fans is a top priority. Confrontational and inflammatory behavior is never tolerated and is unacceptable at Ravens home games."
