Roethlisberger sheds walking boot, reiterates he expects to play vs. Chiefs
Ben Roethlisberger's foot injury doesn't appear to be much of an issue, after all.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback told Ron Cook of The Pittsbugh Post-Gazette on Monday that wearing a walking boot after Sunday's win over the Miami Dolphins was a precautionary measure.
He's ditched the boot just one day later and still expects to be ready for next weekend's divisional-round matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.
"It showed I aggravated an old foot fracture but nothing severe," Roethlisberger said of an MRI he underwent Monday. "I should be good to go."
Aggravating a fracture doesn't exactly sound like a minor injury on the surface, but all signs continue to point toward Roethlisberger having avoided an ailment that would force him to miss time.
Shedding the boot well in advance of game day is also a promising sign for his chances of being his regular mobile self within the pocket, a factor that remains imperative for a dynamic Steelers passing game.
Roethlisberger completed 13-of-18 passes for 197 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in the wild-card win over Miami.
