Report: Chargers' unpopular new logo won't appear on helmet or uniforms
Don't get too worked up about the Los Angeles Chargers' underwhelming new logo, unveiled Thursday shortly after the team announced it is relocating to Los Angeles.
The logo, which was widely panned for closely resembling the Los Angeles Dodgers' logo, is a marketing image only and will not appear on the team's helmet or uniforms, the team told Liz Habib of FOX 11.
When the Los Angeles Rams relocated from St. Louis a year ago, they reportedly tried to alter their uniforms but were not permitted to by the NFL, which has very strict rules about teams altering their visual identities.
The Chargers will likely be subject to the same rules. Though both teams could eventually introduce new logos and uniforms in Los Angeles, the smart money is on the Chargers wearing their same lightning bolt-adorned helmets and uniforms next season.
