Report: Rams modifying logo set to remove gold
The Los Angeles Rams are a little less golden.
The team will remove the color gold from its logo set, reducing them to just blue and white, Paul Lukas of Uni Watch confirms.
The Rams have hinted at the move for a while now, even changing their Twitter avatar to the blue-and-white logo months ago.
The change is among three minor identity shifts by NFL teams for the upcoming season:
The Rams wore blue and white for a period in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but yellow (and later gold) was a part of the team's color scheme before and after.
Since relocating back to Los Angeles, the Rams have tried to minimize the gold in their uniforms, choosing to wear white pants and jerseys for home games. They even modified their helmets to include white horns for a 2016 "Color Rush" game.
It's unclear whether the Rams will continue wearing their gold-accented uniforms in 2017. New uniforms, likely without gold, were expected in 2019 to coincide with the team moving into its new stadium, but perhaps that timeline has been shifted forward.
