Report: Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence suffers broken right foot, out 8-12 weeks
A source reportedly confirmed the bad news for Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence late Tuesday night:
Lawrence will require surgery, Archer added, to repair a "fractured bone," according to Bryan Broaddus, who writes for the Cowboys' website.
The Star-Telegram's Drew Davison writes that Lawrence is expected to miss eight-to-12 weeks.
"You don't like to see that," said defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli. "You wait and see what it is, but a guy goes down for a little bit, it's not good. But you just have to go on. It's next man up."
Davison has more on what is a significant loss for the Cowboys' defense:
The Cowboys traded up in the draft to get Lawrence, who had been expected to fill the Cowboys’ void at defensive end after DeMarcus Ware went to the Broncos. He stated lofty expectations for his rookie season, as well, saying he’d like to have at least 10 sacks.
Lawrence could miss between three-to-six weeks of the regular season, tweets Archer, depending on when he undergoes surgery.
