2007 - O.J. Simpson arrested in connection with armed robbery of sports memorabilia

Former NFL star O.J. Simpson is arrested and charged with six felony counts in connection with the armed robbery of sports memorabilia from a Las Vegas hotel room.

The arrest comes three days after two sports-memorabilia dealers accused Simpson and five other men of storming into their room at the Palace Station Hotel and seizing a number of collector's items, several of which were autographed by Simpson.

Simpson is charged with two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, and one each of conspiracy to commit burglary and burglary with a firearm.

On Oct. 4, 2008, Simpson and and co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart are found guilty on all counts.

"It's a sad day for him and a sad day for his family," defense attorney Yale Galanter said. "This is not a happy day for anybody."

2013 - NFL reinstates Josh Gordon

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is reinstated by the NFL after serving a two-game suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

"I feel like it's a last chance opportunity (to stay in) the league," Gordon said. "Nobody wants a problematic type of person in their program or organization because of how it's perceived to be. I definitely want to stay away from any controversy as long as I can forever.

"That's definitely my No. 1 priority."

Gordon finishes the 2013 season with a league-leading 1,646 yards in 14 games.
