Report: NFL could intervene in Greg Hardy case

Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy might get a call from the NFL soon regarding his ongoing legal issues.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the league may intervene in Hardy's case, suspending him without pay for violating the personal-conduct policy.

Hardy was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend in May, but because he appealed the ruling, the NFL decided not to penalize him until the case has been resolved. Additionally, there was no transcript prepared for his case because his initial trial came before a judge, not a jury.

Florio notes that once a transcript is prepared, it would "prudent" for the NFL to view it before making a decision about Hardy.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera told reporters Monday that the situation remains "fluid" and was non-committal about Hardy's status for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
