Report: CBS permanently cuts Rihanna from Thursday Night Football intro

Hours after pop star Rihanna lashed out at CBS for cutting her song and video from last week's debut of "Thursday Night Football," the network announced that the "Umbrella" singer will not be a part of the program's opening this week nor moving forward.

The New York Times reports CBS will remove Rihanna from the planned video package and replace her performance of "Run This Town" with a song created internally. Actor Don Cheadle will still narrate the package, as he had in the original version.

Rihanna, a domestic abuse victim, had her song temporarily axed by CBS when the network deemed it inappropriate to air after video emerged of Ray Rice assaulting his then-fiancee.
