Report: Texans' Jadeveon Clowney a game-time decision due to illness

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Texans linebacker Jadeveon Clowney is a game-time decision Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles not because of a setback in his surgically repaired knee but because he's sick, ESPN's Tania Ganguli reports.

Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said nothing of Clowney's illness after practice Friday, leading to speculation that the first overall pick in May's draft is dealing with knee issues.

Clowney's practice participation this week was spotty, suggesting he's struggling with his energy level as he gets over whatever illness he's battling.

Clowney is expected to be checked out by team doctors again Saturday.
