Report: Broncos talk to scoreboard operator after complaint from Peyton Manning

Ron Chenoy / USA TODAY Sports

Two of the Denver Broncos' top executives reportedly spoke with the team's scoreboard operator about appropriate guidelines after Peyton Manning complained following a win over the San Diego Chargers last month.

Broncos president Joe Ellis and vice president Mac Freeman both talked to the scoreboard operator, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Manning reportedly criticized the operator and blamed the stadium's technical crew for playing a role in a false start penalty.

"I got a problem with our scoreboard operator; I've got to have a little talk with him,'' Manning said after the game on Oct. 23. "I'm not sure what he's doing. He's playing music and showing players dancing, getting the crowd fired up and we have the ball. I don't think we should be doing that.''

Manning was also unhappy with the Broncos' game operations crew's treatment of Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers. Ellis reportedly reached out to Chargers president Dean Spanos to apologize and assure him it wouldn't happen again.
