Lions' Ndamukong Suh wins appeal, can play Sunday vs. Cowboys

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh has won his appeal and will be able to play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, the team announced.

He was initially suspended Monday for stepping on the leg of Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Suh is no stranger to run-ins with the league, so it was somewhat of a surprise to see his suspension overturned.

As it turns out, Suh was actually viewed as a first-time offender, as NFL.com's Judy Battista explained.

The NFL modified its repeat offender policy in 2014 to allow players to earn a clean slate if they go 32 straight games without another violation. Suh's last infraction was in Week 1 of 2013, meaning he went 32 straight without a violation, including the preseason.

Instead, Suh will be fined $70,000, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Having Suh available for Sunday's clash against the Cowboys is a huge boost for the Lions. Despite his questionable behavior at times, Suh has developed into one of the league's best defensive tackles and will be vital to slowing down running back DeMarco Murray.
