The Buffalo Bills have signed tight end Charles Clay to an offer sheet, according to The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci.
As a result, the Miami Dolphins have five days to match the Bills' offer, per the conditions of the transition tag they placed on Clay earlier in the offseason.
Clay has been offered a five-year contract worth $38 million, with more than $20 million guaranteed, according to Carucci.
Buffalo desperately needs a tight end, with Lee Smith signing with the Oakland Raiders and Scott Chandler joining the New England Patriots via free agency.
Clay recorded 58 catches for 605 yards and three touchdowns last season with the Dolphins.
