Packers' Datone Jones issued 1-game suspension for substance abuse violation

The suspensions keep coming.

Green Bay Packers defensive end Datone Jones has been suspended one game for violating the league's substance abuse policy, the NFL announced. Jones joins Sheldon Richardson, Rolando McClain, and Antonio Gates, who were also suspended Thursday.

Jones received a ticket for marijuana possession on January 19, a day after the Packers' crushing NFC Championship Game defeat to the Seattle Seahawks, according to City of Green Bay Municipal Court records via ESPN's Jason Wilde.

Per the city's website, Jones paid an $880 fine on February 10, putting the case to rest.

The loss of Jones isn't as major as the other three, but the pass rusher still appeared in 13 games for the Packers last season and recorded 1.5 sacks.

Jones will miss a Week 1 clash against the Chicago Bears and will be eligible to return on Sept. 20, when the Packers take on the Seahawks.
