The Houston Texans will workout former New Orleans Saints running back Pierre Thomas on Wednesday, according to Rand Getlin of ESPN.
With Arian Foster requiring groin surgery, the Texans are looking for a versatile fill-in and Thomas fits the mold.
In addition to Thomas, the Texans are also bringing in Joe McKnight and Ben Malena for workouts, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
Meanwhile, another veteran running back may also be on their radar.
Thomas has been a dual-threat runner throughout his entire eight-year run with the Saints, catching a career-high 77 passes in 2013.
Alfred Blue is still expected to take over first and second down duties, but Thomas is a more complete third-down back than youngster Jonathan Grimes.
