Lions rookie Ameer Abdullah shines in preseason debut

In their preseason opener, Detroit Lions rookie running back Ameer Abdullah looked like the dynamic game-changer many expect him to be in the regular season.

Abdullah had a few head-turning runs, looking shifty and as fast as advertised on his way to 67 yards on seven carries.

He made several defenders miss to the delight of head coach Jim Caldwell, who said: "The Lord blessed him with some pretty unique talent."

Abdullah is expected to share the workload with veteran Joique Bell this season, but a few more runs like this, and it may be hard to get the ball out of his hands.
