The Dallas Cowboys are evaluating whether to sign a veteran quarterback to serve as Brandon Weeden's backup while Tony Romo recovers from a broken collarbone, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Dallas considered bringing back Kyle Orton, who announced his retirement at the end of last season, but he's still finished with football, according to Rapoport.
Christian Ponder, Matt Flynn, and Josh Freeman are among the quarterbacks available on the open market.
