Sunday's scheduled game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins could be postponed until Week 8, as Hurricane Joaquin threatens to hit the East Coast, according to CBS Sports' John Breech.

Washington is slated to host Philadelphia over the weekend, but the league is exploring other options. In the event the game is cancelled, both teams would be off during Week 4 and play on another date. The teams share a bye in Week 8.

"We are monitoring the forecast and having dialogue with both teams," Greg Aiello, the NFL’s senior vice president of communications said to The Washington Post's Mark Maske and Master Tesfatsion.

It's rare for a game to be cancelled due to inclement weather. Last season, the Buffalo Bills had to shift a game to Detroit due to an unprecedented snowfall.
