Report: Dolphins' Campbell to decide on DC Kevin Coyle's status by Wednesday
Miami Dolphins interim head coach Dan Campbell is expected to decide whether to retain or fire defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle by Wednesday, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.
Dolphins linebackers coach Mark Duffner is considered a leading candidate to take over if Coyle is fired.
Campbell was named as the Dolphins interim head coach after Joe Philbin was fired Monday, following a 27-14 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday.
Miami's highly touted defensive line struggled miserably through its first four games. The Dolphins recorded just one sack, the lowest total in the NFL by far.
Ndamukong Suh was expected to be a revelation after signing a six-year, $114-million contract in free agency, the largest deal ever handed to a defensive player. Instead, Suh's been a profound disappointment, and rumors have surfaced that he ignored Coyle's play calls in a 23-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
