Report: Chargers attempting to trade safety Eric Weddle

The San Diego Chargers are shopping veteran safety Eric Weddle ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, according to Pro Football Talk.
The 30-year-old skipped the Chargers' voluntary offseason program in an attempt to convince the team to renegotiate his contract, which is paying him $7.5 million this year. The strategy proved unsuccessful, and Weddle eventually returned to the team to play out the final year of his deal.
With the Chargers sporting a 2-6 record, the team may now be ready to move on from their star safety.
Weddle has 43 tackles on the season, despite missing the last two games with a groin injury. The two-time first-team All Pro would represent a significant addition to any secondary he joins.
