Friedman: Darcy Regier expected to be named Coyotes assistant GM

The Phoenix Coyotes are reportedly close to hiring an assistant to general manager Don Maloney.
One other bit of business: Coyotes closing in on a new assistant to Don Maloney. Belief is it will be Darcy Regier.

More than two decades ago, Regier began his managerial career under the tutelage of Maloney with the New York Islanders.
Regier was hired as the Buffalo Sabres general manager in 1997 and held that post until being dismissed in November of 2013.
