With the 16th overall pick at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets selected U.S. National Development Program forward Sonny Milano.
Milano might be the best stick-handler available. His lightning-quick moves with the puck seem to confound opponents and he possesses the acceleration necessary to separate from a defender after slipping past him.
Milano likes to play with the puck on his stick and drive play up the ice. His offensive potential is among the best in the draft if he finds a way to play his style at the pro level. The biggest obstacle for Milano is his size and strength, but if he can elude bigger, faster players like he does against junior opponents, he will be just fine.
Milano is committed to Boston College, where he will be able to mature physically and further develop his offensive skill set.
