The Ottawa Senators dipped into the free-agent pool in order to bolster their offensive corps.
The 33-year-old former second overall pick of the Nashville Predators will attempt to fill the gaping hole left at center with the departure of Jason Spezza.
Legwand played almost 15 solid, but unspectacular seasons in The Music City, amassing 210 goals and 566 points while posting two 20-goal seasons.
The Detroit Red Wings acquired Legwand prior to the 2013-14 trade deadline, where he notched four goals and 11 points in 21 games down the stretch.
