Maple Leafs add assistants Peter Horachek and Steve Spott
The Toronto Maple Leafs added a pair of assistant coaches to Randy Carlyle's staff on Friday.
The 54-year-old Horachek started the 2013-14 season as the head coach of the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL until the Florida Panthers brought him up to guide the big club following the firing of Kevin Dineen. The Panthers posted a 26-36-4 record in Horachek's 66 games behind the bench.
Spott, a 12-year veteran with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League (as both an assistant and head coach), served as the head coach of the AHL's Toronto Marlies in 2013-14, leading the team to a berth in the Western Conference final.
