Predators scout says 'It's just a matter of time' before Filip Forsberg comes into his own
Filip Forsberg was acquired by the Nashville Predators from the Washington Capitals in April of 2013 and has taken some time to get used to his new surroundings.
Helping Sweden to a silver medal at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, Forsberg was named the tournament's MVP. He finished his season in the AHL and is poised to make a difference with the Predators.
Chief amateur scout for the organization, Jeff Kealty, told NHL.com, "Last year was a little bit of a transition year to North America for him.
"You saw at the World Juniors what he could do, the performance he had there. Now it's just a matter of continuing to mature."
Kealty knows the talent is there and he'll put things together shortly. He just needs some more time to develop, something inevitable at the age of 20.
"We had him at our development camp," Kealty said. "You could see the maturity and the next step in his game. We viewed him all along as a high-end offensive talent and we think it's just a matter of time for him."
