Kane responds to Wheeler's comments about leadership: 'you could have just thrown me a text'
During NHL media day interviews on Tuesday, Winnipeg Jets forward Blake Wheeler appeared to challenge teammate Evander Kane to grow up and take on a more prominent leadership role next season.
"He’s coming to the stage of his career where he’s no longer a young guy," Wheeler said of Kane, per Craig Custance. "He needs to step up and be a leader on our team."
Kane appeared to take exception to the way Wheeler delivered his message. The young, occasionally disgruntled Jets winger sent this tweet to Wheeler's account later on Tuesday evening:

Oh it's already been brought'n.
The relationship between the Jets and Kane (and the city of Winnipeg) has seemed tenuous at best for years now. While the 23-year-old former 30-goal scorer has the speed and physical abilities to be a superstar in the NHL, for whatever reason, he can't seem to escape the "immature" tag and put it all together.
It's hard to imagine that this exchange will help matters.
