Wild agree to terms with Kuemper on 2-year deal reportedly worth $2.5M
The Minnesota Wild appear to have taken a step towards solving their issues between the pipes as they've agreed to terms with goaltender Darcy Kuemper on a two-year deal, the team announced Thursday night.
TSN's Bob McKenzie reports that it's a one-way deal with an average annual value of $1.25 million. Kuemper will reportedly earn $1 million in the first year, and $1.5 million in the second.
"I'm super excited to continue this journey with the Wild and can't wait to see and get back on the ice with my teammates," the netminder told Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.
Russo reports Kuemper will report to camp on Friday, and that his arrival will have no impact on veteran goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov's tryout.
The 24-year-old was reportedly seeking a one-year deal worth $850,000 earlier this week and the team was originally offering a two-way contract.
Kuemper went 12-8-4 with a 2.43 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and a pair of shutouts in 26 games with Minnesota last season. He also spent 17 games with their AHL affiliate in Iowa, where he went 7-10-0 with a 2.47 GAA, a .929 save percentage and one shutout in 17 games.
