Penguins' Crosby to make preseason debut Wednesday vs. Red Wings

Raj Mehta / USA TODAY Sports

After missing the start of training camp due to injury and flying home to be with his family after the death of his grandmother, Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby will make his preseason debut Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings, according to the team's official website.

Wednesday's game marks Pittsburgh's final exhibition contest prior to the season opener against the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 9.

Crosby enters the new season as the NHL's reigning Hart and Art Ross Trophy winner, and likely won't need too much time to get back to full speed.
