Deputy commissioner Bill Daly joined NHL Live on Wednesday evening and spoke about Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov's domestic violence charge.

While Voynov's lawyer Craig Renetzky was adamant about his client's innocence, Daly felt otherwise when the league decided to suspend Voynov indefinitely.

"Based on the facts that we had, which were different than the facts - everybody likes to draw parallels to the (Semyon) Varlamov situation - but the facts and circumstances in this case were different," Daly explained.

Daly continued to contradict Renetzky's statement that there was no crime committed and that the incident was an accident, "We felt it was a fairly easy decision," Daly said.

"No choice but to suspend the player and go through the process of trying to get to the bottom of exactly what happened and, obviously, handle it appropriately from there," Daily concluded.

Lt. Joe Hoffman of the Redondo Beach Police Department told media Monday morning "a crime of domestic violence did, in fact, occur."

Voynov has a court date set for Dec. 1.
