Devils' Jagr: 'I don't really agree with people saying you should finish on top'
Jaromir Jagr is no stranger to breaking convention.
The 42-year-old has been challenged at nearly every turn in his 28 seasons of pro hockey, including his latest decision to stick it out with the seemingly re-tooling New Jersey Devils.
But what's never been in question is his place in the sport's history, a legacy Jagr is wholly secure in even as age continues to slow him down.
NJD Jagr on longevity: 'I don't really agree with people saying you should finish on top so people remember you. I think that's bullshit.'

Jagr: it;s like in regular life. You feel your best when you're 30 or 35. You're not going to live after that? You still have to finish it.

His outlook is solitary, but it's one of value.
It can be argued that his desire to allow another generation of hockey fans to experience his talent (while he continues to scale all-time NHL records) has only enhanced one of the greatest careers in the sport's history.
