Jets' Lowry suspended 1 game for boarding Patrick Kaleta

Winnipeg Jets center Adam Lowry has been suspended one game by the NHL's Department of Player Safety for his illegal check on Buffalo Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta on Wednesday.

Lowry, 21, has held down a third-line role with the Jets this season and has performed ably despite scoring just two goals and three points in 24 games.

The one-game suspension means Lowry will be unavailable to play for the Jets on Friday when they visit the Boston Bruins. Winnipeg will surely miss the 6-foot-5, 210-pound pivot's heft against a snarly opponent like the Bruins.
