VIDEO: Bruins owner admits to leaving arena prior to Game 7 comeback vs. Maple Leafs
The date was May 14, 2013, and Boston Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs chose the wrong time to break the cardinal rule for all who attend live sporting events: Never leave before the final buzzer.
The revelation came out as George Stroumboulopoulos interviewed a trio of NHL owners in a segment that aired during Saturday's Hockey Night in Canada pregame show.
Stroumboulopoulos asked if Jacobs and Larry Tanenbaum, chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment and part-owner of the Toronto club, spoke after Boston's epic comeback during Game 7 of a first round series back in 2013.
The response begins with Jacobs admitting to leaving when the Maple Leafs went up 4-1 in the third period.
The Bruins tied the game and went on to win in overtime, while Jacobs was mentally composing a congratulatory letter.
