Canucks' Hansen collapses on bench following collision with Flames' Wideman
It was a scary scene in Vancouver on Saturday night as Vancouver Canucks winger Jannik Hansen collapsed on the bench following a big collision with Calgary Flames defender Dennis Wideman.
Hansen skated to the bench - apparently winded - following the collision, and appeared to collapse. His teammates panicked and signalled to medical staff for help and for the officials to halt the game.
The on-ice officials blew the whistle as Hansen was helped to the Canucks locker room by team training staff.
The Danish-born forward appeared to remain conscious throughout the incident. The Canucks updated the situation on Twitter:
Hansen was just helped to the #Canucks room after taking a big hit. We'll provide an update when we have one.

The Flames also wished Hansen well.
Sportsnet reported that Canucks PR have locked down the hallway in the bowels of Rogers Arena, and that an ambulance is on standby.
