The Los Angeles Kings paid a visit to the White House on Monday, where they were honored by President Barack Obama for winning the Stanley Cup last June.
Commissioner Gary Bettman attended the festivities, and his surprising choice of footwear was captured by Kings forward Marian Gaborik.
"Tough shoes Mr. Bettman at the White House @nhl @nhlpa", Gaborik wrote on Instagram.
Defenseman Drew Doughty took the best shot at the commissioner, though.
Teammates Jeff Carter, Jarret Stoll and Jonathan Quick joined in, retweeting the photo evidence in one form or another.
Perhaps Bettman was getting in the soccer spirit as the MLS champion L.A. Galaxy shared the presidential honors.
We doubt it.
