Connor McDavid: Being a Maple Leaf would be an 'absolute dream come true'
Homegrown talent tends to shy away from the pressures of playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs. But as we know, Connor McDavid isn't just any prospect.
As such, the consensus top-rated prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft would prefer the ping pong balls land in Toronto's favor.
"It’s pretty crazy to even think about, but that would be an absolute dream come true," McDavid said via Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun.
McDavid and the Maple Leafs are hardly on a collision course. However, with the team's collapse and possible plans to sell off assets, seeing him pull a blue and white sweater over his head in June no longer seems like a pipe dream.
The Maple Leafs currently own just a 6.5 percent chance after their win over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, but have played more games than any team in contention for the Erie Otters star, save for the Buffalo Sabres.
McDavid has 21 goals and 76 points in 30 games.
