Dylan Strome on potentially being drafted by Maple Leafs: 'Ending up in Toronto would be wild'
The Toronto Maple Leafs do battle with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday in their second-to-last game of the season before they set their sights on the NHL Entry Draft.
One of the players on the Maple Leafs' radar is Dylan Strome of the Erie Otters, who won the OHL scoring title with 129 points in 68 games.
The hype behind the potential acquisition has sent Toronto's fan base into a frenzy with jerseys of the youngster already popping up around the city.
"Someone actually sent me a photo of it," Strome told Mike Zeisberger of the Toronto Sun.
"Actually, there were two unis in the shot -- one of me, another of Connor (McDavid) beside it. "It's flattering, but you try and not look at it too much."
The idea of coming to the Maple Leafs has Strome, born in Mississauga, Ontario, ecstatic.
"Obviously I'm not there, I'm not in Toronto so I don't really know how crazy it really is," Strome said. "But Twitter is pretty crazy right now, the whole day, the whole night. It's pretty wild.
"Obviously the draft is something I've been looking forward to for a long time now. I'll be happy wherever I end up. But, yeah, ending up in Toronto would be wild, wouldn't it?"
Strome is slated to be selected fourth overall in the upcoming draft according to NHL Central Scouting, so the Maple Leafs have a very good chance of grabbing the 18-year-old.
