Report: Doug Wilson safe at Sharks' general manager post
In what's becoming a rite of spring, Doug Wilson will survive.
The San Jose Sharks general manager will retain his position at the helm of the floundering organization, according to a source of CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz.
His report comes in response to a cryptic message (with terrible syntax, mind you) delivered to fans from owner Hasso Plattner, who wrote:
The management, John and Doug, did a good job.
The rebuild is in full progress, the team is now amongst the youngest in the league and has a great future.
The Sharks won five division titles in Wilson's first seven seasons, but have regressed significantly over the last four, seeing past successes overshadowed by poor playoff performances and infighting through the public sphere.
Despite their issues, Plattner's youth movement suggests his general manager's leash grow even longer as Wilson remains the principal decision-maker for a rebuild.
