Rangers' Girardi on team facing elimination: 'There's no reason to panic'
There's no more room for error for the New York Rangers.
After Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Rangers are one loss away from having their season come to an end - a position the team has been in once before this postseason.
"There's no reason to panic," assistant captain Dan Girardi told Justin Tasch of the New York Daily News. "We've got another chance here to save our season."
In the second round of the playoffs, the Rangers were down three games to one against the Washington Capitals but battled back to take the series. Can they do it once again?
"It's not like we haven't been there before," said goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. "We just have to go out there, leave everything out there and see where it takes us. It's going to be a challenge for us."
The Rangers - who've shown true grit by winning games when they've needed to most - aren't going to take anything for granted in the next game of the series scheduled for Tuesday in Tampa.
"I don’t think it's hard because we have no other choice," Girardi said. "If we lose, we're done. In these games we just give it all we have. They've got nothing to save it for next game, so we've just got to find a way to give it our all and throw everything we have at them."
