Blackhawks' Toews: 'Things obviously don't look in our favor if we don't find a way to win'
The Chicago Blackhawks edged out a 2-1 victory in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, a game captain Jonathan Toews suggests the team needed.
"Obviously it's not the end of the series if we don't come out with a win tonight," Toews told Sportsnet's Scott Oake postgame. "Things obviously don't look in our favor if we don't find a way to win at home. So we knew it was an important one."
The win ties the series at two games apiece, so a loss would have put the Blackhawks in peril at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Though the team was able to come out with a 'W', Toews admits the Blackhawks did not get out to the start they wanted, but eventually played a style they felt would bring them more success.
"We were slow to start, mind you I think we just played a smarter, patient game tonight," said Toews. "Obviously they were going to press at the end, we just had to hang on there."
Both teams will now head back to Tampa for Game 5 on Saturday.
