The Philadelphia Flyers found someone to man the bench of their AHL club in Lehigh Valley.

Scott Gordon was announced as the new head coach of the squad by the Flyers on Monday.

"We are extremely pleased to add Scott to our organization as head coach of our top affiliate in the Lehigh Valley," said Flyers general manager Ron Hextall. "He brings in a proven track record of success and knowledge as a coach at all levels, and we are confident he can help develop our prospects through our system, as well as lead the Phantoms back to the Calder Cup playoffs."

The 52-year-old most recently served as an assistant for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and has NHL head-coaching experience, filling the role with the New York Islanders from 2008-10, and winning 64 games.

Philadelphia also announced that Riley Cote would return as an assistant coach on the Phantoms. It will be his sixth season in the position.
