NHL development camps officially ended Saturday when the Pittsburgh Penguins wrapped things up with a public scrimmage that featured prospects showing their coaches just what they're made of.

There were many reasons to keep an eye on camps as future stars hit the ice for summer time hockey.

Here are some of the best highlights from the past couple of weeks.

Connor McDavid scores five goals in scrimmage

Connor McDavid - who is expected to become a franchise-saving player for the Edmonton Oilers - stepped onto the ice in front of 7,300 fans to show off his chops and he didn't disappoint, scoring five goals during a 4-on-4 prospects scrimmage.

Sabres draw huge audience for prospects scrimmage

The future looks bright for the Buffalo Sabres, and fans are backing the generational shift within the franchise.

Over 17,000 fans arrived to watch Jack Eichel, Sam Reinhart, and the rest of the team's future stars play in a blue and gold scrimmage.

The attendance was a record-setting audience for a scrimmage of its kind in Buffalo.

Sure, McDavid and Eichel have been in the spotlight for some time, but other potential stars may have put their names on the map with dazzling puck handling skills and highlight-reel tallies.

Hurricanes' Sergey Tolchinsky scores a beautiful between-the-legs breakaway goal

Tolchinsky - a 20-year-old forward out of Russia - showed off a slick move that begs the question of how the youngster went undrafted, especially after consecutive 90-point seasons in junior.

Wild's Alex Tuch struts his stuff after sweet tally

Minnesota Wild prospect Alex Tuch is not only a first-round pick with a U.S. National Development Progam pedigree, but he's also mastered the post-goal celebration as well.

The 19-year-old shows off a strut that would make Tony Manero jealous after a sleek goal at camp.

Islanders' John Schiavo performs wizardry with unreal goal

John Schiavo's shootout goal at Islanders prospect camp

Schiavo gave Tolchinsky and Tuch a run for their money with a unique goal at New York Islanders development camp. The filthy goal could leave any goaltender crying between the posts.

Schiavo - like Tolchinsky - was also undrafted. It just goes to show how many talented players are available in the world of hockey; players who simply need to be given a chance.
