Devils place Zubrus on unconditional waivers for purpose of terminating contract

Forward Dainius Zubrus has been placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract, New Jersey Devils general manager Ray Shero announced Wednesday.

The 37-year old had one season remaining on his contract with the club and was set to earn $3.1 million.

Zubrus has been with the Devils since 2007-08, and recorded four goals and six assists in 74 games with the team this past season.

In 1,243 career games, Zubrus has posted 225 goals and 584 points.
