The New York Islanders have reportedly been negotiating with veteran defenseman Marek Zidlicky.
The Islanders have been in talks with the unrestricted free agent for several weeks, and while no contract has been agreed upon, the club has expressed interest, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Zidlicky notched 11 points in 21 games for the Detroit Red Wings after arriving in a trade with the New Jersey Devils. Twenty of his 34 points last season came on the power play.
The Boston Bruins reportedly held discussions with the 38-year-old last month.
Zidlicky's agent, Allan Walsh, announced in June that his client intends to play in his 12th NHL season.
