Ducks sign Hagelin to 4-year deal reportedly worth $16 million

Carl Hagelin's got his wings.

The Anaheim Ducks signed the speedy winger to a four-year deal Friday worth a reported $16 million.

"I'm extremely excited to get over there and meet the guys," Hagelin said. "This roster has the possibility to do some big things."

Anaheim acquired Hagelin along with draft picks in a draft-day trade with the New York Rangers on June 27, in exchange for Emerson Etem and a second-round pick.

Hagelin played in all 82 games in 2014-15, scoring 17 goals for the second straight season, while recording a career-high 35 points. He averaged 15 minutes of ice time per game and has nine game-winning goals over the past two seasons.

The Swede added two goals and three assists in 19 playoff games.

Depending on where Hagelin slots into the Ducks' lineup, he can improve upon his career-year totals in 2015-16, especially if he's given an increased, top-six role, and power-play minutes.

Anaheim has to replace Matt Beleskey's 22 goals from a season ago, after the winger signed with the Boston Bruins in free agency, so Hagelin's a good bet to start the season on the Ducks' second line with Ryan Kesler.
