Bruins promote Jay Pandolfo, name Jamie Langenbrunner development coach
The Boston Bruins' front office promoted one two-time Stanley Cup champion, and hired another to take over his old position.
On Saturday, the organization hired former NHL forward Jamie Langenbrunner as a development coach, and promoted Jay Pandolfo to director of player development.
Pandolfo and Langenbrunner were teammates with the New Jersey Devils for nine seasons, from 2001 to 2010.
Langenbrunner won the Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars in 1999, and added another championship with New Jersey in 2003, leading the league in playoff scoring that season. He served as the Devils' captain from 2007 to 2011.
The 40-year-old served as captain of the United States' 2010 Olympic team and was a finalist for the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie in 1997. He retired in 2014 after 16 seasons with the Stars, Devils and St. Louis Blues.
Pandolfo also retired in 2014 after a 15-year career, winning two Cups with the Devils. He also played for the Bruins and the New York Islanders.
The Bruins made several other hockey operations moves Saturday, hiring Dennis Bonvie as a pro scout, Alain Bissonnette, Erkki Rajamaki, Andrew Shaw, and Bob Wetick as amateur scouts, J.P. Buckley as video coordinator, and Julie Nicoletti as a sports nutritionist.
