Sharks' Couture has broken fibula, out 4-6 weeks
San Jose Sharks forward Logan Couture suffered a broken fibula after going down in practice Thursday, according to general manager Doug Wilson.
"Logan was injured in practice on Thursday in New Jersey and suffered a fractured right fibula at the ankle," Wilson said. "He will be returning to San Jose to undergo surgery under the direction of Kaiser Permanente’s medical team. He is expected to miss four-to-six weeks."
The 26-year-old reportedly went down during a five-on-five drill towards the end of practice and was in considerable pain. He was seen leaving the ice under the assistance of teammates Brent Burns and Brenden Dillon while putting no weight on his leg, and was later wearing a boot and sporting crutches.
Couture took to Twitter on Friday to thank fans for their support:
Couture played in all 82 games for the Sharks last season, and has one assist through three games of the 2015-16 campaign.
