Blackhawks' Keith out 4-6 weeks following knee surgery

The Chicago Blackhawks will be without top defenseman Duncan Keith for four-to-six weeks following surgery to repair a meniscal tear in his right knee, the club announced Tuesday.

Keith, the reigning Conn Smythe Trophy winner, appeared in six games for the Blackhawks this season, recording two assists and eight shots on goal in over 24 minutes of ice time per game.

The 32-year-old has been quite durable since entering the NHL in 2005.

The Blackhawks, who are off to a 3-3-0 start, were reportedly searching for help on the blue line prior to the injury.
