Dubnyk admits dealing with knee injury, told it can't get worse by playing
Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk admitted after Sunday's loss to the Winnipeg Jets that he's dealing with an ailing right knee.
Dubnyk said he was told his injury can't get worse by playing, even though it's sore, according to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The Wild starter entered the 5-4 defeat in relief of Darcy Kuemper in the second period with Minnesota trailing 4-1. Dubnyk stopped 14 of 15 shots, but appeared to have trouble getting up after making several saves.
After the game, he told Russo he didn't feel right, but gutted it out because the game was on the line.
Head coach Mike Yeo said he's been told not to worry about Dubnyk's injury, but the netminder was going to be held out of Monday's practice before it was canceled entirely.
Dubnyk won't start Tuesday against the Edmonton Oilers if they feel he isn't ready, Yeo said.
The Vezina Trophy nominee has appeared in seven of Minnesota's eight games, going 5-2-0 with a 2.27 GAA, a .909 save percentage, and one shutout.
